The home of the Lytton family since 1490 and re-fashioned in the 19thC by Bulwer-Lytton. There is a fine collection of manuscripts, portraits and furniture, a Jacobean banquet hall with minstrels' gallery, a British Raj exhibition, 25 acres of formal gardens with a Jekyll herb garden and a large adventure playground with Fort Knebworth. All is set in a 250-acre country park which is the setting for many special events throughout the summer. There is a gift shop, plant sales and a licensed tearoom in a restored 400-year-old tithe barn.

Consisting of over 120 acres in central Stevenage, the park consists of an 11-acre lake which is used for windsurfing and sailing throughout the year (courses available May to Sep. Boating lake and play area, 3 mini paddling pools which open on Whitsun weekend and then daily throughout the summer holidays. The park supports a wildfowl sanctuary where colourful ducks and geese can be fed. There is also a wealth of other wildlife species to be seen by the keen observer. Ideal for walking or picnicking, also coarse fishing for carp, bream and roach.
